Get Your TESOL Certification to teach ESL Online in 4 Simple Steps!

Do you want freedom and away from the 9-5 job? Have you ever thought about becoming an ESL Online Teacher?  Or finding a job that you can work at home to spend more time with your family and balance life in a better way?  If it’s a “Yes,” I have a great opportunity for you to do it!  This job opened a lot of doors for me that I never knew I had access to. It is more than just a job for me, it is a place where I can fulfill my mission here to serve others.  I particularly love working with children and it lights up my world when they get what I am teaching them from my own little corner (office at home.) 😊   Another reason why I love being an ESL Online Teacher is that I can travel and work if I wanted to.  My family and I had stayed in Mexico for some time where we got to enjoy the culture, met new friends, and ate lots of yummy food! We have plans to go to Asia, Europe, Greece, and wherever life takes us in the future.

With most online teaching companies, you will need to have at least a bachelor’s degree and obtain a TESOL certification (sometimes also referred to as TEFL- Click here to obtain the TEFL certification.) I had already had my Doctorate degree when I found this opportunity and all I had to do was complete my certification and go for my interview.  I now work for this wonderful company where I connect with my students in an online classroom setting and have fun with the little ones every time we meet.

TESOL Certification

So what does TESOL stand for? And how do you get your certification?  TESOL stands for “Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages” and you can use this certification to teach either at home, online, or abroad….literally anywhere around the world! Today, I am going to share with you 4 simple steps to crush this!

Before we begin, you need to know that there are many programs out there that you can get certified but be careful of the number of hours it credits you for through the program.  Most companies will want you to get the 120 hour TESOL certificate (in North America) and that’s the exact one that I did.

I am going to introduce you to the 120 hour TESOL certificate online through IOA (International Open Academy.) This TESOL certification course is fully accredited, internationally recognized, and will give you the tools you need to be successful. It is a self-pace program, so you get to decide when and where you want to take it. I chose this program for this reason and it worked perfect for me.  I had organized my time and set hour some hours during the day after I got my kids’ stuff going and before I had to run off to take care of some business things.  Sometimes I would make myself a cup of coffee in the home office while other times I would drink my tea and work on the course in my bedroom.  The whole process was simple from beginning to finish.  The course taught me  a lot about what it takes to teach ESL and gave many helpful information to jump start this career.

Now, it’s time to start your accredited TESOL certification online- your first step to being an English teacher to many from across the world. Where will you go?  The decision is totally up to you…. You got this!
